The Norman S. Coplon Extramural Grant Program is one of the nation’s largest private research endowments for research into chronic kidney diseases. Satellite Philanthropy awards these extramural grants to individuals and institutions engaged in promising kidney disease research in the United States and Canada. Approximately one-third of the awards are for bench (i.e., basic science) research, with the remaining two-thirds aimed at applied science research.
These prestigious grants have become highly competitive, and the quality of grant applications continues to make the selection of recipients “exceedingly difficult,” according to Dr. Coplon himself. Each year, the grant recipients “continue this program’s proud tradition of conducting innovative and important kidney disease research,” says Dr. Coplon. Recipients of Norman S. Coplon Extramural Grants are helping to further the knowledge and understanding of renal disease and its treatments.
