Satellite Healthcare is driven by our commitment to providing the community’s highest quality care to our patients.  To ensure that we meet this goal, we have built our chronic kidney disease (CKD) and dialysis programs around a number of innovative clinical services aimed at supporting our physician partners.

Pre-Dialysis Patient Education
We believe that patient education is the first step in an effective treatment program and we work to engage patients to be a partner in their health care.  Our education programs are focused on two critical areas for patients: wellness and treatment options.

Wellness Education – We provide CKD patients access to comprehensive wellness education classes on a range of topics such as diabetes management, hypertension, cardiovascular health, kidney transplants, exercise, nutrition, and stress management. These classes, which are open to all CKD patients free of charge, provide patients with the information necessary to maintain the lifestyle they desire.  Our experience has shown that patients who take part in our classes are more health literate, more engaged in their healthcare, and more proactive in managing their health. This often allows patients to slow the progression of their kidney disease and delay their need for dialysis.

Treatment Options Education – When it’s time for patients to begin considering dialysis therapy, our entire team – including Certified Nephrology Nurses (CNNs), Registered Dietitians, and Social Workers – will be there to help. We’ll assist patients in tailoring an option plan that best suits their lifestyle and health requirements.  We offer a comprehensive renal replacement therapy education program that highlights all of the available treatment options including transplantation, in-center hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and home hemodialysis.  We provide patients with more choices than traditional dialysis programs and help them fully understand all of their treatment options. More importantly, we provide this clinical information prior to the need for dialysis.  As a result, patients will be able to plan ahead and make a more informed choice in selecting the therapy that is right for them.

Complete Spectrum of Dialysis Treatment Options
Through WellBound and Satellite Dialysis, we support the entire range of dialysis therapies from in-center hemodialysis to self-care home treatments such as peritoneal dialysis and home hemodialysis.  In doing so, we offer physicians and their patients more treatment options, allowing them a wider range of therapy options.

Web-Based Clinical Information Systems
Satellite Healthcare has developed sophisticated data systems specifically designed to facilitate clinical excellence within multi-modality dialysis programs. SPIN^® and SPIN^® MD, allows clinicians to more effectively manage clinical care and enable physicians to more easily manage and track their patients dialysis care. These systems also enable cross comparisons of outcomes with other Satellite Healthcare programs. These information systems also accelerates continuous quality improvements and creates vast data warehouses for ongoing clinical research.

SPIN^®
Satellite Partners Information Network, or SPIN^®, is a proprietary clinical information system that was developed by Satellite Healthcare.  The application is based on fine tuning existing clinical system that has been tested for over a decade.  SPIN^® encompasses user-driven functionality of the old system plus many enhancements, such as an up-to-date web-based platform allowing updates in real time.  SPIN^® development was directed by a multidisciplinary team to ensure that it reflects the work flow and adds to the ability to provide quality care.  SPIN^® interfaces with the Laboratory and SPIN^® MD, Satellite's physician application.  It complies with HIPAA security and has the ability to interface with other clinical systems outside Satellite Healthcare.

SPIN^® MD
Satellite Partners Information Network, or SPIN^® MD, is the physician application built on the same database as SPIN^®.  It allows physicians to input access and manage real time data for their patients.  SPIN^® MD allows physicians to view alerts, write orders, sign orders, and obtain patient data using any computer with an internet connection.  It also allows physicians to track patient visits to help ensure accurate billing.
