Satellite Healthcare Names Recipients of 2007 Norman S. Coplon
Extramural Grants

Recipients Spearheading Cutting-Edge Research in Nephrology Field

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, January 15, 2008 – Satellite Healthcare, Inc., a leader in the field of kidney disease services and research, has announced the recipients of its 2007 Norman S. Coplon Extramural Grants.  Recipients of these grants, which are awarded annually, are selected from among individuals at leading institutions in the United States and Canada that are engaged in innovative kidney disease research projects.  The 2007 winners are conducting valuable research focused on a broad range of aspects of kidney disease including treatment, progression and role in other types of disease, among others.

The 2007 Norman S. Coplon Extramural Grant recipients are:

  • Tarek El-Achkar – Saint Louis University
  • Vijayakrishna K. Gadi – Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
  • Gur Kaushal – University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
  • Thu Le – Duke University Medical Center
  • Martina Reslerova – University of Manitoba
  • Farook Thameem – The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio
  • Joshua Thurman – University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center
  • Xiaonan Wang – Emory University

Grant proposals submitted to Satellite Research, a division of Satellite Healthcare, are reviewed and approved by the independent Satellite Research Scientific Advisory Board.  While research topics for the grants are not restricted to any one clinical area, applicants must focus on topics that exhibit scientific merit and potential for clinical application.  The Coplon Grants allow for a maximum of $50,000 per year for a maximum of three years for each recipient.
